Coach Matz is entering his 16th year on the GGBC staff working primarily with the A ball campers. A 2002 graduate of Niagara University and four year member of the Purple Eagle baseball team, Coach Matz was a left-handed pitcher and starred in relief and starting roles while being named to the 2002 MAAC All-Academic Team as a senior.
  Coach Matz recently completed his 17th year as Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Portville Central School and his 2022 squad finished 20-2, won the Class C Regional Championship while featuring 2022 All Western NY Small School Player of the Year, Max Yehl. For his efforts Coach Matz was named All Western NY Small School 2022 Coach of the Year.
  In the fall of 2022, he will be beginning his 18th year as a French and Chinese teacher at Portville Central School, Coach is an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan and continues his playing career in the Portville Classic Senior Baseball League. A repeat Gold Glove Baseball Camp Coaches Home Run Derby Champion, Coach Matz resides in the Southern Tier with his wife and two sons.
